Toulouse - - Basilique Notre-Dame la Daurade

Théodore Puget et Fils (1881) Jean Daldosso (1993)
Jean-Baptiste Dupont
Orgue de choeur

At a meeting on 6th of July 1879 the Works Committee decided to purchase a choir organ because the Church of la Daurade was the only church in Toulouse without one. They asked Théodore Puget et Fils to build an instrument with thirteen stops for the price of 12,000 francs. On the 5th of October 1879, Puget contracted to deliver the instrument for Easter 1880. The case was designed by M. Montreuil, the church architect, at a cost of 1,500 francs. The paintings and woodwork for the choir organ's façade were ready to be installed on the 27th of March 1881.

There must have been a slight delay delivering the instrument. The organ was maintained by the Puget family up until the death of Maurice Puget. It has undergone no modifications. Jean Daldosso gave the instrument a complete renovation in 1991 and 1992. An inauguration was held together with that of the grand-orgue on the 3rd and 4th of October 1992 with Michel Bouvard, Jan Willem Jansen, Jean Boyer and Philippe Lefebvre. This high quality instrument is very poetic and is certainly the most interesting choir organ in Toulouse. The very attractive gold-faced organ case was probably designed to match the decoration of the choir in which it so perfectly resides.
