Toulouse - - Temple du Salin
Jean Daldosso (2004-2005)
Jean-Baptiste Dupont
Grand-orgue
The building was completed in 1911 and in the same year the organ was built (the first ever by the Maison Mutin-Cavaillé-Coll). It was officially inaugurated on Thursday the 26th of February 1912. This organ was sold to the Reformed Protestant Church of Mazamet (Temple de l'Oratoire) where it was installed in 1920. At the same time, a new organ was constructed in the Salin Temple by Théodore Puget et Fils. It was in the post-symphonic style, equipped with pneumatic traction. After the organ had been silent for a number of years, the Friends of the Salin Organ decided that a new organ should be built using the old façade (except for the old zinc pipes which were replaced with new ones). This façade comprised part of the furnishings listed as a historic monument, together with the rest of the building. Four organ builders replied to a performance-related call for tenders: Jean Daldosso, Alain Faye, Bernard Hurvy and Gérard Bancells. On the 9th of June 2000, after hearing the four candidates, a jury organised by the Association chose the proposal from Jean Daldosso. The new organ, constructed in 2004 and completed in July 2005 was created in the symphonic style. It includes 28 stops (24 speaking stops) over two 61-note manuals and a 32-note pedalboard, three divisions (two of them in expression boxes), two Barker machines and an electronic combination system with electric commands for the stops. It was inaugurated on the 24th of September 2005 by the organists Jean-Claude Guidarini and Frédéric Blanc.
