Evangelina Mascardi

Evangelina Mascardi was born 1977 in Buenos Aires (Argentina). She has a degree at music teaching from the J.-P. Esnaola in the National School of Music. She’s the winner of several guitar competitions, such as Jóvenes Guitarristas Argentinos in 1995.

In 1997, she started studying lute at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland) with Hopkinson Smith, and in 2001 she obtained her Solisten Diplim. She also obtained a diploma in lute from the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia.

She has performed as a soloist in numerous festivals such as Fringe Barcelona, Basler Lauten Abende, Luth at Theorbe Geneve, Early Music London, Concentus Brno, Orpheum Zurich, Resonnanzen Wien, etc…

She has recorder several Solo-Cds : Bach Weiss (2004) and Sylvius Leopold Weiss (2011) by ORF Austria and Ferita d’amore (2011) by Arcana Italy which have received enthusiastic reviews and won numerous awards (Diapason Decouverte, 5 Stars Goldberg, Supersonic Pizzicato).

As a continuo-player Evangelina Mascardi collaborates with Il Giardino Armonico (Giovanni Antonini), Zefiro (dir. Alfredo Bernardini), Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra (dir. Sir John Eliot Gardiner), Ensemble aurora (Enrico Gatti). She has recorded more than 40 CDs with Archiv, Alpha, Ambroise, ORF, Naive, Zig Zag Territoires, Sony Classical with this an another ensembles.

She has performed baroque operas in many theatres throughout Europe and America, for example Champs-Élysées Paris, Brooklyn Academy of Music New York, Carnegie Hall New York, Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires, Tokyo Opera Hall, Teatro La Fenice, Théâtre de Bordeaux, Frankfurter Opera, Theater Basel, Opera National de Paris.

Evangelina Mascardi is the lute teacher at the Conservatorio Rossini di Pesaro.
