Pieter Van Dijk

Pieter van Dijk is professor of organ at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and at the Hamburg Hochschule für Musik und Theater. He’s organist of the famous Van Hagerbeer / Schnitger-organ of the Saint-Laurenskerk in Alkmaar and City Organist of Alkmaar.

He studied organ with Bert Matter at the Arnhem Conservatory. He continued his studies with Gustav Leonhardt, Marie-Claire Alain and Jan Raas and was a prize-winner at international organ competitions at Deventer in 1979 and in 1986 at Innsbruck.

Pieter van Dijk is artistic director of the Organ festival Holland which organize every two years an International Organfestival including organ competition and master class in Alkmaar.

His publications include articles on Matthias Weckmann, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, J. S. Bach and Karl Straube and he has made several recordings on historic instruments in Spain, the Netherlands and Italy.

He performs throughout Europe, Japan and the U.S.A. and is frequently invited to be a jury member at international organ competitions.
