Frédéric Maurin

Fréderic Maurin grew up with the music of Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson and Frank Zappa. He quickly left his engineering career to dedicate his entire life to music and has followed a jazz course and a classical writing course in parallel. He leads PING MACHINE, a group composed by 15 musicians which is part of the new European jazz stage nowadays. He composes its repertoire with which he has won numerous prizes and awards (“Choc de l’année 2013” by Jazz Magazine, 2014 Victoires du Jazz nomination, writing orders from the Culture Ministry).
He developed there a particular music with an ample imaginary. He is also a guitarist in numerous projects, from the contemporary group AMALGAMMES directed by Cristophe Mangou to the FLAMENCO PUNK guitar trio with Pierre Durand and Julien Desprez. Since 2011, he has been the president of GRANDS FORMATS, a federation of the great courses of jazz and improvised music.
