Les Witches
Created in 1992 by a group of friends who still form the core of the ensemble, Les Witches have been tirelessly exploring the music of the British Isles and Northern Europe at the junction between Renaissance and Baroque.
Thanks to this infinitely rich, moving and accessible repertoire, they can reach a broad audience and share with it their taste for discoveries, improvisation and encounters with other artists. Constantly aiming at a balance between historical research and creativity,
Les Witches play instruments especially designed for the ensemble; over the years, a rich instrumentarium has come into being : flutes, gittern, lute, colascione, cittern, bagpipes, tambourine, violins, viols, harpsichord, organ, organetto... They even commissioned a replica of a unique instrument : the spinettino-regal of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
