Fernando Gabriel Swiech

Fernando Gabriel Swiech was born in 1976 in Ponta Grossa, Brazil. When the government of Brazil invited young artists to compete for funding for advanced studies abroad, Fernando Swiech was one of 30 selected out of 600 applicants from all over Brazil.

He took up the scholarship in Hamburg, Germany in 2000, commencing studies in church music at the university-level School of Music and Theatre as an organ student of Wolfgang Zerer. After graduation, he moved in 2004 to Hanover, where he further developed his organ qualifications at the School of Music and Theatre under Pier Damiano Peretti, graduating in 2006. Since the winter of 2006-07 he has been back at the School of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, studying for a doctoral degree in musicology. At the same time he is on the music staff of the Lutheran Church of Hamburg and is responsible for three different organs at the three churches forming the Altona Ost joint parish.

As a choral director and organist, he has received invitations from all over Europe and Latin American countries to perform. He gives frequent organ concerts and plays as a soloist with the Hamburg Conservatory and other orchestras.
