John-Paul Farahat

John Paul Farahat is Director of Music and Principal Organist of Saint Basil’s Church, the collegiate church of the University of Saint Michael’s College in the University of Toronto, Canada.
Active as an international concert organist, his past engagements include Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, Saint Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey in London, Saint Michael’s Cathedral Basilica and the Cathedral Church of Saint James in Toronto, the Cathedral of Saint Hyacinthe in Québec, the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Saint Thomas Church and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC.
He is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Toronto. He is researching the life and lost improvisations of Victor Togni (1935-1965) in the organ studio of Kevin Komisaruk, with whom he has also studied harpsichord and improvisation.
He has received masterclass instruction from Peter Williams, Olivier Latry, Noam Sivan and Martin Haselböck.
